A seminar on 'Professional Skills for Global Engineering Practice' will be organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, BUET (IEEE, Bangladesh Section) on July 2 at 5pm at the Seminar Hall of BUET, CE Building, 1st floor.
Professor Muhammad Harunur Rashid, University of West Florida, USA will speak at the event while Professor A. M. M. Safiullah, Vice Chancellor, BUET will be present as the Chief Guest.
Presentation Focus
The presentation will discuss the professional skills needed to survive in the continuously changing engineering in the competitive global market place. The importance of non-engineering professional skills will also be discussed.
Speaker’s Brief Biography
M. H. Rashid is employed by the University of Florida as Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Director of UF/UWF joint program in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He received B. Sc. from BUET and M. Sc. & PhD from University of Birmingham (UK), all in electrical engineering. He worked as professor in Indiana University and Purdue University (Fort Wayne). He worked as full-time and visiting faculty in University of Connecticut, Concordia University, Purdue University (Calumet), KFUPM (Saudi Arabia). He also worked as design and research engineer in different organizations. He was invited by many countries and agencies as keynote lecturer, consultant, PhD examiner, research reviewer and selector for professors.
Dr. Rashid has published 16 textbooks and published over 130 technical papers in the fields of power electronics, circuits, electronics and microelectronics. His books are adopted as texts all over the world and many books are translated in different languages.
Prof. Rashid is a fellow of IEEE and IEE. He received IEEE Outstanding Engineering Award in 1991, IEEE Educational Activity Award in 2002 and IEEE Undergraduate Teaching Award in 2008. He was an ABET program evaluator for electrical engineering in 1995-2000 and is currently an engineering evaluator for Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, USA. He was selected as IEEE IAS Distinguished lecturer and speaker. He is the series editor of Power Electronics and Applications, Nanotechnology and Applications. He is the Editor-in Chief of Electric Power and Energy Series.
